Targeting Market Strategy: How To Target Your Market the Correct Way, Like You Know What You’re Doing!

Targeting Market Strategy- What would you do if you actually knew how to Target your Market?

Targeting Market Strategy. A Smart Internet Marketing Strategy: Targeting Niche Markets. For the last couple of years, I have been grappling with the idea of making money online.

Although I searched and found a lot of information, but most of it was vague and did not give me any concrete answer to the most important question: what to actually DO to make some money on the internet.

During my quest of getting answers, I came across a very informative video on the internet which gave me a lot of information about internet marketing and gave me some pretty good food for thought.

The video talked about “Niche Markets” targeting in marketing definition what they are and why they are important to any person who would like to make money on the internet by selling a product or service.

In fact, the concept of Niche Markets is applicable to any business or service provider, whether they operate on the internet or otherwise.

If you look it up in the dictionary, the word “Niche” means “A situation or activity specially suited to a person’s interests, abilities, or nature”.

A “Niche Market” is a group of people with a common interest or ability or nature, who would all be interested in a common product or service.

The common interest of these people can be any thing ranging from a common hobby, a common problem, a common cultural background, to any common desire they might have.

Let me explain this to you with a few examples:

1) A niche market of people who have a hobby of knitting

2) A niche market of people who have common problem of knee pain

3) A niche market of people who are all musicians

4) A niche market of people who have a common desire of learning tiling

People with common interests tend to cluster and you can easily find pockets of such people online; in forums and groups or visiting websites of their interest.

It is best to direct your marketing to select niche audiences for maximum benefit to you and to them. Targeting Market Strategy.  It is always a waste of time, effort and resources to market your product or service to a niche audience which is not interested in what you are selling.

For example, if you try to sell scrap booking materials to a niche audience who wants to learn plumbing, you will not get any customers. Targeting Market Strategy. Granted that you will find a rare plumber who also likes to maintain his scrapbook, but you will not make a profit!

Similarly, marketing a new and effective acne product to a group of people with lower backache will only lead you to lose the money you spent on marketing your innovative acne solution to them.

Niche Marketing is very cost effective and powerful; the world’s most successful businesses use this concept to maximize their profits.

Therefore, if you have a certain product or service that you want to sell, concentrate your marketing efforts to the Niche Market that it caters to.

Conversely, if you do not have a specific product in mind that you want to sell online, it is advisable that you seek out large Targeting Market Strategy Niche Markets and then think about what they would be interested in buying and then provide them with that particular solution/product/service.

Targeting Market Strategy– Your Home Business

When it comes to making money on the Internet, your first thought should be to identify exactly who will be most interested in what your home business has to offer.

This is the difference between ‘blanket’ marketing and ‘target’ marketing and for a home business with a small budget, it can make mean the difference between effective internet marketing and wasting your money.

Large corporations, like AOL, for example, can afford to blanket market their services to the general population without regard for the individual on the receiving end.

How many AOL trial CDs have you gotten in your mailbox, unsolicited and unwanted, that have ended up in the trash? Targeting In Marketing. Each of these represents marketing dollars spent. Together, they have probably filled a landfill all their own.

For your home business, you most likely cannot afford to send out billions of advertising circulars or even post hundreds of ads all over the internet. Targeting In Marketing. Ask yourself a few questions about your potential customer before you begin:

Targeting Market Strategy

Targeting Market Strategy

* Who NEEDS what I have to offer? For example, if your home business sells sewing supplies, then your primary target marketing should be directed to those who make their living by sewing.
* Who WANTS what I have to offer? In the same example, those who sew as a hobby won’t need but certainly may want your home business to serve them.

Next, look at your current customers. Who are they? Where do they live? Are they primarily male of female? How did they find out about you? Targeting Market Strategy. Do they spend a lot of time surfing the web?

By asking your current customers these questions and more for example, what they like about your home business and what they think would benefit from change you will more easily narrow down your target marketing audience, find them online, and market your home business to them.

Targeting Market Strategy. Affiliate Marketing Best Days Ahead.

Crossing the Line – the line between performance and traditional advertising has been breached and the best days of affiliate marketing are ahead.

Years before the NASDAQ tanked and banner advertising died, e-commerce pioneers like Amazon.com and CDNow began partnering with topic-centric websites to drive revenues, paying a commission for each sale referred.

The practice spread quickly and became known as affiliate marketing. By early 1999, Forrester Research proclaimed affiliate programs as the Webs most effective traffic-driving technique almost twice as effective as banner advertising.

Consider that by September 1999, more than three years after Amazon launched, there were over 1,000 merchants offering affiliate programs. And by 2021, Amazons Associates Program had grown to over 900,000 affiliates.

What Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos started as a polite conversation had grown into an entirely new industry, bringing with it affiliate networks, directories, newsletters and a variety of consultants.

Other innovations followed and affiliate marketing is now an integral part of the Webs composition. Its also now widely heralded as the Webs most cost effective marketing vehicle.

Still, as affiliate marketing evolved, issues with the model have been exposed. The affiliate community needs to remember that affiliate marketing is not about generating cheap advertising, but developing profitable strategic relationships.

Targeting Market Strategy

Excited lucky mixed-race businesswoman raised fists up celebrating success, making yes gesture, looking at laptop, passed the test with a high score

But now there is a way for merchants to now offer a win-win where both merchants and affiliates have a vested interest.

Improving technologies now make it possible for the formerly CPS, CPA, CPL performance programs and the CPM, CPC, and flat advertising models to unify creating a new hybrid that I call the CPP (Cost-Plus-Performance) model.

The CPP combines a paid campaign with a performance campaign and offers the best of both worlds.

I see this as the future of affiliate marketing, a wide-open world of performance and payment where the CPP takes inventory lost to Googles AdSense and advertisers back. The result is a whole new world of opportunities for merchants, affiliate managers and affiliates.

The hybrid CPP is converting former CPM, CPC advocates into affiliate marketing believers. For many top websites, affiliate marketing now represents a chance to loosen the grip of pay-per-click search engines and costly advertising.

The most difficult obstacle in affiliate marketing is finding good affiliates with traffic. If a site sells traffic then they must have it, and if you negotiate a Cost-Plus-Performance payout valuable opportunities begin to open up.

Merchants are also realizing that affiliates need better tools as well.

Technologies such as data-feeds, site and shopping cart abandonment (exit traffic) promise to allow merchants, who are also affiliates, to increase EPC and EPM numbers without compromising the visitors experience, thereby improving monetization.

By simply offering additional products and/or service offers at or after the point of sale, merchants can add revenue without diluting the sales process.

Its becoming clear to merchants, affiliate managers and affiliates that the line between performance and traditional advertising has been breached.

Targeting Market Strategy

Beautiful smiling lovely family with puppy dog pet at home

It started with Googles entry into the market. Googles AdSense captured valuable affiliate program inventory, which caused the flexible affiliate marketers to evolve again. The industries response was to tangle with the paid advertising side of the market.

Googles method is to pay out for ad space the same ad space that was used by affiliate marketers. That limits available inventory and changes the Web publishers expectations.

Some affiliate marketers using AdSense end up to cannibalizing their own market. Why? To get guaranteed income from traffic. If you pay for traffic, you’re guaranteed to get it. The merchants get guaranteed traffic and the affiliates get guaranteed revenue from traffic.

However, this presents a problem. Traditional advertising places the risk on the merchants, while performance places the risk on the affiliate. In either case only one has a vested interest in the campaign.

Another big complaint proved to be overly hard selling, with some reps seeming to believe that repetition or browbeating may succeed in getting a property on the buy where the numbers wont.

Half of the buyers said they agree with the statement that the rep problem was no big deal. Sure, theyre annoying sometimes, but Im sure they find me equally so.

Its how the industry is set up. About 45 percent agreed instead that they are a necessary evil. Most are okay, but there are a few really obnoxious ones I hate doing business with.

Even with all the issues, the good news is that the affiliate community is still evolving.

Organic search is becoming more competitive. CPM rates are going up. Paid search is becoming cost prohibitive and the need for cost effective online inventory is becoming stronger, causing the affiliate space to grow at ever increasing rates.

As merchants, affiliate managers and affiliates become even more interwoven, the friction decreases and new forms of integration and aggregation are made possible.

Targeting Market Strategy

I see it this way the race is on! In the last year the number of merchants offering affiliate programs has more than quadrupled. Literally, millions of websites now participate as affiliates from personal homepages at Geocities and Homestead to Fortune 500 companies.

And now, more often then not, merchants with affiliate programs are also affiliates.

Whether termed affiliate marketing, collaborative commerce, revenue sharing or syndicated selling, the affiliate space leads the way in the ever changing landscape of online marketing and has become the Webs fastest, simplest and most cost effective marketing vehicle.

As both merchants and affiliates continue to recognize the power of change, affiliate marketing’s best days are yet to come.

In a few short years, affiliate marketing looks to become the tail that wags the dog controlling the majority of the adverting and marketing dollars.

Despite the less then impressive advancements in the advertising world and hype, affiliate marketing stays true to its origins as a better way of connecting buyers and sellers and rewarding those that facilitate those relationships.

Targeting Market Strategy. Blogging For Bucks How To Start Making A Real Living With Your Blog And Gain Freedom…

There are many bloggers who make incomes of several thousand dollars per month from their blogs. These are not casual bloggers who only want to see their words and their name online or who just want to put forth a point-of-view, these are serious bloggers who have made blogging into a full-time (or nearly full-time) job.

Targeting Market Strategy

Here are some of the ways they make money from their blogs and ways you can also blog for bucks:

Advertising! There are many advertisers waiting for you to approach them, these are programs such as Google’s Adsense (https ://www.google.com/adsense/) where you allow companies to place their ads . . . ads related to your topic . . . on your blog.

Each time one of your readers clicks on an ad on your blog, you earn a small amount of money (a predetermined amount).

A slightly different approach is used by companies such as CrispADS (http://www.crispads.com/). Targeting In Marketing with this type of service, you tell them how much you want to charge for advertising space on your blog and they will attempt to find an advertiser who will pay that price (plus a commission for the go-between company).

These are just two of a large group that is expanding daily.

Blog Feeds! RSS (Really Simple Syndication) and ATOM Feeds are two of the dominant blog feeds.

The object of a blog feed is to distribute every new post you add to your blog to a list of subscribers; you make your blog posts available to RSS or ATOM, people who want to read your stuff on a regular basis can subscribe to your posts and read them on a newsreader.

Targeting Market Strategy.  The latest trend is to include advertising to these blog feeds and, as before, if your subscriber clicks on an ad that is included with your feed, you get some money. There are no BIG bucks here yet but its a rapidly growing field.

Affiliate Programs! Online companies have been offering affiliate programs to bloggers for years, some of the big ones are Amazon, Linkshare and Clickbank.

They work by providing you a unique URL that you add to your blog. Targeting In Marketing.  Any readers that click through to the company and buy something are providing you with a commission.

Another version of the affiliate program is the mini-mall concept offered by companies such as Chitika eMiniMalls.

The mini-mall works (like the affiliate program), through a link on your blog that takes your reader to a page with a variety of merchandise — all sales earn you a commission.

Targeting Market Strategy

Sponsors! Large corporations are very aware of the blogosphere and of the growing number of people who read blogs and, in response, they are using blogs to advance their business interests — blogs may never replace the Michael Jordan-type superstars for corporations but blogs are already gaining many fairly lucrative corporate sponsorships.

Targeting In Marketing.  If you have a blog that is dedicated to a particular topic, e.g., digital cameras, that is published on a regular basis, that has a good readership and is recognized as an authoritative source for digital camera information, your blog may draw the interest of a corporate sponsor and you may be approached to run their advertisements for new products on a long-term basis.

If and when you reach that point you know you’ve made it to the big time, professional blogger’s league. Your Product! The methods mentioned above are just a few of the very many ways you can start making money from your blog . . . but there is a catch!

As you probably noticed every scheme mentioned and every other money-making blogging scheme you’ll find requires a great blog . . . a blog that draws hundreds of readers (as a minimum) on a regular basis.

To reach this stage of readership you need a blog that offers the reader some type of unique, quality content.

If blogging is to be a money making business for you, you’ll need to treat it like a business by dedicating your time, energy and creativity to its success. Also, like any successful business, you need a product or service that is a ‘customer magnet.’ Targeting In Marketing.  Your product is your content: it could be news or information or entertainment but whatever it is, it must be unique and interesting.

Targeting Market Strategy. The Importance of Web Traffic.

If you have a website then you already know the importance of web traffic. Web traffic is to Internet marketing as location is to real estate. It’s the only thing that really matters. If you cannot generate targeted visitors to your site, you will not make any sales.

Usually the owner or designer of the website is the person designated to drive web traffic to the site. The chief ingredient in generating web traffic is the search engine. Targeting In Marketing.  Of coarse, you can use advertising, but it’s going to cost you. Using the search engines to generate targeted (interested in your product) web traffic is the least expensive method known.

Unfortunately, many website owners do not understand the importance of search engine visibility, which leads to web traffic. They place more importance on producing a “pretty” website.

Not that this is bad, but it is really secondary to search engine placement. Targeting In Marketing.  Hopefully, the following list of common mistakes, made by many website owners, will help you generate more targeted web traffic to your site…after all, isn’t that what you want.

Targeting Market Strategy

Side horizontal view of couple laughing with bulldog in bed.

1. Not using keywords effectively.
This is probably one of the most critical area of site design. Choose the right keywords and potential customers will find your site. Use the wrong ones and your site will see little, if any, web traffic.

2. Repeating the same keywords.
When you use the same keywords over and over again (called keyword stacking) the search engines may downgrade (or skip) the page or site.

3. Robbing pages from other websites.
How many times have you heard or read that “this is the Internet and it’s ok” to steal icons and text from websites to use on your site. Targeting In Marketing.  Don’t do it. Its one thing to learn from others who have been there and another to outright copy their work. The search engines are very smart and usually detect page duplication. They may even prevent you from ever being listed by them.

4. Using keywords that are not related to your website.
Many unethical website owners try to gain search engine visibility by using keywords that have nothing at all to do with their website. Targeting In Marketing.  They place unrelated keywords in a page (such as “sex”, the name of a known celebrity, the hot search topic of the day, etc.) inside a meta tag for a page.

The keyword doesn’t have anything to do with the page topic. However, since the keyword is popular, they think this will boost their visibility. Targeting In Marketing.  This technique is considered spam by the search engines and may cause the page (or sometimes the whole site) to be removed from the search engine listing.

Targeting Market Strategy

5. Keyword stuffing.
Somewhat like keyword stacking listed above, this means to assign multiple keywords to the description of a graphic or layer that appears on your website by using the “alt=” HTML parameter. Targeting In Marketing.  If the search engines find that this text does not really describe the graphic or layer it will be considered spam.

6. Relying on hidden text.
You might be inclined to think that if you cannot see it, it doesn’t hurt. Wrong…. Do not try to hide your keywords or keyword phrases by making them invisible. Targeting In Marketing.  For example, some unethical designers my set the keywords to the same color as the background of the web page; thereby, making it invisible.

7. Relying on tiny text.
This is another version of the item above (relying on hidden text). Do not try to hide your keywords or keyword phrases by making them tiny. Setting the text size of the keywords so small that it can barely be seen does this.

8. Assuming all search engines are the same.
Many people assume that each search engine plays by the same rules. This is not so. Targeting In Marketing.  Each has their own rule base and is subject to change anytime they so desire. Make it a point to learn what each major search engine requires for high visibility.

9. Using free web hosting.
Do not use free web hosting if you are really serious about increasing site web traffic via search engine visibility. Many times the search engines will eliminate content from these free hosts.

10. Forgetting to check for missing web page elements.
Make sure to check every page in your website for completeness, like missing links, graphics, etc. Targeting In Marketing.  There are sites on the web that will do this for free.

This is just a few of the methods and techniques that you should avoid. Do not give in to the temptation that these methods will work for you. They will do more harm than good for your website.

Not only will you spend weeks of wasted effort, you may have your site banned from the search engines forever. Targeting In Marketing.  Invest a little time to learn the proper techniques for increasing search engine visibility and your net web traffic will increase.
